Jupiter Wagons Limited (JWL) has secured a significant ₹242.41 crore order from GATX India, the country’s largest private railcar lessor, to manufacture and supply 583 specialised wagons. The order includes BLSS container carrier wagons, ACT2 bi-level SUV carriers, BOXNHL high-capacity open wagons, and BVCM bulk commodity units—each designed to meet specific freight needs in India’s evolving logistics sector.

The BLSS wagons will enhance intermodal logistics by efficiently carrying ISO containers, improving payload efficiency and port-to-hinterland connectivity. The ACT2 carriers will transport up to 10 SUVs per wagon, ensuring faster loading, minimal handling, and better protection—addressing the growing SUV market. The BOXNHL wagons, with over 70-tonne payload capacity, are ideal for heavy-haul commodities like coal and iron ore, while the BVCM units cater to bulk cargo needs.

This contract strengthens JWL’s position as a key player in the specialised rail freight segment and supports its customer diversification strategy. Managing Director Vivek Lohia emphasised the strategic importance of the deal, noting that it deepens the company’s relationship with GATX and aligns with its long-term growth plans.

With manufacturing facilities across India and partnerships with leading global rail technology companies, JWL offers an extensive product range spanning freight wagons, locomotives, braking systems, commercial vehicles, ISO containers, and electric mobility solutions. This latest order reinforces its capability to execute large-scale, innovation-led projects while contributing to India’s modern freight infrastructure.
